We’re organizing a small online hackathon this Saturday (29th). It will be an experiment to make remote hackathons fun and social and we would love for you to join us. We promise virtual pizza 🍕. We’ll kick off at 14.00 and finish 22.00 Stockholm (GMT+1) time.
The challenge will be on the sillier side and you can use any technology. Designers are also welcome.
Look forward to a fun time of hacking, random surprises, and maybe even real pizza.

Do you love dogs? Do you love data? Do you love R? Then this is the perfect event for you.
R ladies London is running a full day hackathon together with Dogs Trust. We will explore data provided by the charity, as well as public data, to help Dogs Trust learn from their data.
Questions that we will try to answer include:
Can we apply machine learning, to successfully classify visual images of 30 different dog breeds?
Are particular breeds more likely to be rehomed in particular areas?
Historically, are breed popularity trends seen across the whole of the UK, or do specific areas show unique trends?
Are rehoming rates influenced by breed appearances on film or TV?
Join us for a day of data analysis and fun.
Please note that you will need to sign a non-disclosure agreement to access any data from Dogs Trust.
Approximate schedule (this will be confirmed in an email closer to the date):
9-10am Arrival
10am-1pm Hacking
1-2pm Lunch (pizza!)
2-6pm More hacking (there will be some snacks to keep us going)
6-7pm Presentations and wrap up

Nine out of ten people are estimated to breathe air containing high levels of pollutants, causing around 7 million deaths every year. More than 90% of these deaths occur in the developing world. Many of these areas have no surface air-quality monitoring networks and rely mainly on modelling and satellite information. Besides air pollution, there are other aspects of atmospheric composition that can affect health, eg UV radiation, which strongly depends on the stratospheric ozone layer.
